Digital Marketing & Communications Officer

Hours of Work: 18 Hours per Week
Salary: £28,860 pro-rata
Contract Type: Fixed-term for 12 months (continuation subject to further funding)
To support individuals, families, and communities affected by crisis (e.g., unexpected shock, cost-of-living pressures, displacement, health emergencies, or social vulnerability), and those facing challenges such as language barriers, digital exclusion, social isolation, or discrimination — and specifically financial support — helping them build resilience, access essential services, and improve overall well-being.
The role contributes to the objectives of the Government's Crisis Resilience Fund by delivering frontline support, strengthening community networks, and enabling sustainable recovery.
Key Responsibilities
1. IT & Digital Support
- Provide day-to-day IT support for staff and volunteers.
- Manage Microsoft 365, email accounts, Teams, SharePoint, and cloud storage.
- Maintain organisational devices, software, cybersecurity, and data protection standards.
- Support the development of digital systems and processes.
2. Website & Digital Platforms
- Maintain and update the PMF website.
- Improve website content, accessibility, and search engine visibility.
- Monitor website performance and analytics.
3. Marketing, Communications & Social Media
- Create engaging content for social media, newsletters, websites, and promotional materials.
- Manage PMF social media channels and increase online engagement.
- Design digital and printed marketing materials using Canva or similar tools.
- Promote PMF projects, events, campaigns, and success stories.
- Produce videos, graphics, photography, and case studies where appropriate.
4. Monitoring & Reporting
- Track social media, website, and campaign performance.
- Produce simple monthly reports and recommendations.
Person Specification
Essential Experience in IT support, including managing Microsoft 365, Teams, SharePoint, and cloud storage.
Essential Experience managing social media and digital marketing campaigns.
Desirable Experience working in the charity, community, or voluntary sector.
Essential Experience updating and maintaining websites (e.g. WordPress or similar), with an understanding of accessibility and search engine optimisation (SEO).
Desirable Knowledge of website accessibility standards (e.g. WCAG)
Essential Strong content creation and design skills using Canva or equivalent.
Desirable Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, or CRM systems.
Essential Understanding of cybersecurity and data protection principles, and ability to help maintain organisational devices and software to a good standard.
Desirable Formal data protection or cybersecurity certification or training (e.g. Cyber Essentials).
Essential Ability to monitor and report on social media, website, and campaign performance, producing clear, accurate reports and recommendations.
Desirable Formal qualification or training in IT, digital marketing, or communications.
Desirable Photography, videography, and video editing skills.
Essential Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Good organisational and problem-solving skills. Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
