Muslim Forum is a registered charity and established as a company limited
by guarantee. Our activities and the facilities we offer can broadly be

Core Services
Preston Muslim Forum has been awarded the Matrix
Quality Standard - a nationally recognised accreditation for Guidance
Council Standards for learning and work. We are a recipient of a "Best
IAG Partnership 2004" Award and "Best IAG Practice 2004"
Award. Our core services include:
- Information, advice and guidance on education, employment and training,
and career management.
- Job search, skills matching, CV preparation, interview technique coaching,
work tasters and one-to-one support.
- Enhanced guidance services, targeted towards hard to reach people
and helping them achieve their goals with respect to education, training
and employment.
Courses
We offer a broad range of courses, which are revised
and updated on an ongoing basis. The following are examples of the courses

Projects
As an organisation, we have over 12 years of experience
in the delivery of a variety of projects, covering such diverse subjects
as research, capacity building and the development of good practice. Some
recent examples have included:
- Investigating low participation rates of young Asian women in education
and training.
- Awaaz ('Voice') - a women's art project.
- 'Barriers to Employment' - identifying barriers faced by Asian men/women
when securing employment.
- Men's health screening sessions.
- Health initiatives related to smoking, diabetes, blood pressure, healthy
living for older people.
- Multi-sports; mums and daughters.
- Women's healthy cooking sessions.
- Development of lifelong learning courses.
- Apna Virsa ('Our Heritage') - Islamic heritage.
- Setting up of 'Maa Bachcha' group (mother and toddler).
- Support for Castleton Community Concern for senior citizens.
- Dosti ('Friendship') - Mentoring Project.
- Research project to identify and address issues surrounding over 50s
disabled people from BME communities.
